I have always in my position as owner of RPG Resource been completely up front and honest with everyone involved and using our services. This week we had a server incident, the Obsidian Fleet simulation, USS Rook was hacked. This was caused when the install.php file was left in the FTP file group, using this hack the offender reset the passwords and gained entry into the site.

As you know RPG Resource does a complete and total back up of its files once every 24 hours, however this back up is auto deleted at the close of the current cycle, due to our server size restrictions we have to delete this total backup. Because of this I was unable to repair the site, but spent an entire day working to get the site back up and running.

When I created RPG Resource 2 years ago I saw a need for a person to
provide web service to Simm Managers that could not afford their own
hosting. With the current state of the Economy the need grew and so did RPG Resource, we rose to meet the challenge and purchased the rights to a Virtual Dedicated Server. I did this at my own expense, not because I wanted to further my career but because I wanted to help people. Because I wanted to provide people with the same opportunities that were given to me when I started in simming. We grew further and so I added more staff, and a full service graphics division.

RPG Resource continues to provide each CO with Free Internet Hosting
Services, we have asked nothing in return, no allegiance of loyalty, no
demands on our CO’s, and no payment in return.

Right now, there are people that in discussion of leaving RPG Resource
because of this incident and if you do I want the same thing that I have always wanted. You to have hosting, and your simms to be successful regardless of what Fleet you are a member of.

With the mass amounts of requests per week this organization receives the owner of RPG Resource has decided that internal changes will be required in order to keep up with this demand. To that end and with the introduction of NOVA we are working with in to train using this program, and to assist those in need.

The Problem with the introduction of a new program lies in the demand for it. Currently RPG Resource hosts more active simulations than any simulation host in existence today. We have grown beyond what I ever imagined for this endeavor, in order to maintain my own sanity, and the sanity of my hard working personnel. I have elected to close applications for new simulations. This decision was hard to make considering the fact that we are able to handle countless more. But with an average of 4 to 10 Nova Upgrades a day, and the strain on the graphics department to skin them the choice was easy. We must maintain what we have instead of looking toward the future.

RPG Resource does have commitments to our partners in Obsidian Fleet and we will meet these obligations head on. However, new simulations will have to contact Ownership directly in order to get new service.

After a long debate with in the makers of SMS and Nova it has been decided that there will be a installation script to come out with Nova that will allow you to input the information from SMS to Nova… there was concerns with this due to the upgrade from SMS 2.5 to 2.6 that took place late last year that turned out to be a complete disaster….

Thanks to this the Administration of RPG Resource has decided that we WILL support Nova when it comes out due to this change. We will be supporting the following programs:

Nova 1.0
SMS 2.6.10 (The Final Release)
And TRSM

Attention All RPG Resource Simm Managers, I am pleased to announce that Anodyne Productions has released the new version of SMS version 2.6.9; this will be the last update before the release of Nova. Please note as members of RPG Resource your websites have been automatically updated. You will need to sign into your Control Panels and complete the installation.

Please note if you had mod setup for more Authors for JP’s you will find this no longer works. Please submit a support ticket and we will reinstall this mod for you.
